Recent Reviews of Mz Josephine’s Amazing Holiday  Chapel off Chapel July 8th '06

Josephine Fisher is used to stripping off. She is a seasoned cabaret  and burlesque performer who won the Cabaret Award at the Melbourne Fringe Festival 03. But the actor and sultry songstress, aka Mistress Josephine  formely Empress Josephine, undergos a psychological undressing in Mz Josephine's Amazing Holiday. Uncharacteristically, Ms Fisher is dressed as a realestate agent who could sing the pants off Liza Minelli and maybe even her Mum as well.

Before long  Fisher struts about in her lingerie and talks about nothing , while wearing next to nothing. One or all of the Josephine's has been suffering from depression and experiencing existential angst. Fisher's appraoch is from "if you dont laugh you cry school of thought, which is far more enetertaing  than watching someone gently rocking in a corner.

Fisher takes the audinece on a metaphysical journey through emotional chaos which is a collection of songs, anecdotes, observations and self analyisis. She has a captivating stage presence and the arrangment of songs and chats is spaced out  so that the outcome is a tight show that consistently holds the audiences attention.  One such arrangement occurs when Mz Josephine has a sudden outburst of "Judi Rage" against the actor Judy Dench. The rant is followed by a sweet and seductive version of Judy Garland's, Somewhere Over the Rainbow"

Mz Josephine is a mistress of challenging sacred cows in whichever nook or cranny she is poking.  Mz Josephine;s Amazing Holiday is one hell of a frenetic ride but definately worth the fare for plenty of laughs and singing that will knock your soxs off.

"Without the glitz of a regular cabaret, there is a very distinct rawness to the show which works in its favour..." Allen Dickson Melbourne Stage 13/7/06

"Josephine Fisher is an enormously charismatic performer who does a fine line in flirtatious naughtiness, fabulist storytelling and full blown singing. Her Latest show is both intriguing and surreal , recalling to some extent Brian Munich sense of disconcerting madness.”
." Jonathan Marshall Reviewer for, In Press, Real Time and 3RRR on " Ms Josephine in Silliness Speaks.

"If originality counts Miss Josephine with her bawdy tales of debauchery and libidinous urges belongs near the top of the Comedy Festival tree, combining the smoky cabaret chanteuse with boisterous byplay l’amour.
Napoleons “ex” is a mistress in a time warp, carrying a torch for a count she meet at the Grand Prix but forced to sublimate her erotic skills to phone sex. Her lurid account of how she and her sister where ravaged by pirates –interspersed with jaunty renditions of C’est si bon –is followed by a musical lecture on sex by a Jungian nun and her genital glove puppets. Need we go on ?

Josephine Fisher has created cabaret of the absurd with almost Goonish flair in this “pocket theatre” assisted by Enio Pozzebon and Monica Tesselaar, who is very funny as the nun."
Jim Murphy - The Age Tuesday The 1st of April ‘03

“Left of Centre this Cabaret will have the most serious kinkster in the asles” Silliness Speaks, Kitten of Kinky Magazine -04

"Fisher's performance is mesmerising. Her vocal entrances they seemed to come from nowhere constantly surprised me. The intensity of her performance and presence, the clarity of her voice and the integrated way she moves as she vocalises draws you to her." Wendy Lasica Herald Sun' 97 "Narciuss's Dream"
